I have this awesome guy friend who altered an ugly shirt to look beautiful the other day, so I decided to repay him with a little crafty gift. He simply adored the purses I made that were made out of Koolaid Jammers, (I got the idea from this site) so I decided to make a wallet to thank him. Here are the results:

What do you think? I think I made it kinda big, but hopefully he'll like it.

Yay!  I have all of these empty pouches of HI-C, but I don't really need a new purse.  I need a wallet.  A tutorial would be awesome.  Smiley

Okay...I've never posted a tutorial before & I kinda did this as I went along, so here goes nothing...

Sooo you need 6 or 7 empty pouches of whatever. Cut the bottoms from the inside to wash out all the sticky stuff, then I ironed them down so they would be flat & dried out.

Take one of the pouches and make pockets by lining other pouches up (then the stuff going past the bottom cut and make another pocket with it) Tape them down temporarily and sew the inside part. (because you don't want stitches everywhere when you sew the outside on)

Take another pouch and find a clear screen of some sort (for a drivers license) and sew that on. (I used the clear part of Koolaid Jammers then used my library card for good measure) The stitches looked really ugly so I put some pieces of the leftover pocket pouches around the stitching on the clear part.

Sew the insides together by taking what you want to be the inside and just sew a straight line about 1/2 inch or so from the edge. You want to cut off some excess so there is enough room for the outside. (so just cut right beside the stitching)

Here is the hard part: get 2 pouches for the outside and then sew those on, preferably starting on the side where the pockets are going to be sewed on. Start on top and go down, then across to the half way point, then sew the other half. (make sure you don't sew the top because thats where you're going to put your money!!)

Last thing: sew the outside edges together just by putting them together, and making sure the inside edges won't be in your way.

Hope that wasn't too complicated. Enjoy your unique new wallet!! If you're still confused, I'll try to post a better tutorial when I can.

If this is successful for you and you make one, I'd love to see a picture!!

(FYI, I used cross stitching for the outside since my sewing machine is special, and I used transparent nylon thread I got at Walmart)
