i love frozen peas. and beans.
we always leave stuff in cans.
not for long cos there is liek 6 people in my family.
mostly fruit out of cans. peaches and plums are good.
but they hang in cans till consumed. and i never notice any metallic taste,
maybe its a weird australian thing to eat canned peaches.
or a my family thing...

I like frozen produce.  Especially if the produce is out of season.  I keep a bag of frozen peas and usually a box of frozen spinach in the freezer so they're handy.

frozen things are always good.

A lot of people will suggest planning a week of groceries and only buying what you'll eat. I'm always changing my mind and never know how much cooking time I'll have so I suggest that you live close to a grocery store. Maybe it seems a little extreme moving your whole home closer to the market, but I believe in it.

I plan two to three days worth of meals and then go shopping. This is also good if you don't have a car, you'll have less to carry. And things can't go bad in three days...usually.

I know that if you wrap celery in tin foil it will keep in the fridge for a long time and stay nice and crisp! And once it gets a little soft just cut it up for homemade soup or throw it in a meatloaf.

I rarely shop ate grocery stores anymore.
I get my meat from the local meat market and get veggies at the farmer's market.

I love tomatoes, hubby hates them.
You have to buy a basket at a time.
So I go in halves with my sis or mom who both love them too.
I buy broccolli cut it up wash it and freeze it it last months that way.
Same with yellow squash.
We go thru that fast around here!

A good way to eat veggies is to chop them up and put it in other things. Cleverly hide them in:
omelettes/ scrambled eggs
stir fry
stuffed pasta/ravioli
soups. Its veeery easy to put things in soup and make people eat it by the spoonful.

craftsters do it better.

I allways thought it was a weird "I come from the south of Brazil" thing to love canned peaches. It's a very common treat from where I come. Maybe it's because both places share the same latitude.

Back at home we eat them with cream. Not healthy, but as good as it gets. Smiley

My family here in Canada eats jarred peaches. And jarred pears. Very very good. I used to fight with my brother over pear-juice.

Back when I was first married, I discovered that the head of lettuce stayed fresh much longer if we stored it in the plastic bag* from the supermarket (Kroger or Kmart bags seem to work best for some reason Smiley ~

 I have younger siblings, and they get tired of the same fruits over and over. They are more likely to snack on it if it is something new- Strawberries, kiwis, apricots. Also, you cna rinse a bag of grapes, and then set them out in a bowl in the kitchen. That way they are more accessible, and when they are out in the open more likely to be eaten.
 Smoothies are also such fun! Possibly more of a pain than you want, but they are delicious for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Use fresh-frozen produce, blended with a little orange juice. You can try many combinations, and they always come out great.
