because that was the reaction of my sister, brother, and father did when they first layed eyes on this dress.  I saw a new dress pattern from mccalls:

I wanted to make something like it, but didn't feel like getting the pattern, so I made my own version.

Dress:

back (I couldn't really tie the bow right by myself):

And...In color! (because that is what was silly said my brother)

any comments on possible modifications?

What a lovely dress....and I am sure unique.
I liked the pattern combination..make it special.
You should laugh...from happiness for nailing the dress pattern..great job!

The color of the pictures reminded me from my mom's bride's shower...they look just like yours.

That's awesome! I have a friend who would probably like to wear it. She likes to wear more... unique patterns  Cheesy
What was the fabric you used for the edges?

That is SOOOO cute! You did a great job of interpreting the pattern on your own!
I like it even better now that I can see it in color, too!
Wear it with pride!!

it's a helluva lot nicer than the actual original pattern.
i'm constantly surprised at how craftster pick these really hideous-looking patterns and make something nice out of them.

i'm trying to learn to look at the pattern schematics, not the scary illustrations.

contrary to popular opinion, i think the fabric is cool.

if you want possible mods it looks maybe i tiny bit broad across your back (but maybe not. i'm not a very good seamstress). Also, I love the long sash wrapped in front, but it looks a little bulky. Maybe use a finer fabric, or, um, something next time?
