Hi guys!
I think I finally have all the major issues worked out on my site, so I think Im ready to hear what you guys have to say... I am still working on adding products, so there isn't anything to speak of in the Home Accents and very very little in the Accessories.  (I am waiting on the other folks who are going to feature on the page to get me photos.)

You may not be experienced, but your work looks really professional. The site is gorgeous! Neat, tidy, easy to navigate, and very clear all-round. I think you've established a very workable setup, so when you add more products everything should still function as nicely as it does now. Good work!

site looks great (& that's coming from a web designer of 7+ yrs!).  my one little comment is maybe have an extra "swatch" picture of the items.  particularly the dragonfly bag... i would like to see the detail of that closer... it's soooo cute!

good luck!

I think your site is very professional looking and your purses and backpack totes are great!  Very nicely made.
My suggestions would be:
When you click on a particular handbag could there be an accompanying picture of the inside of the bag?  You describe the insides beautifully, but it really makes me want to see them!  Especially the red lining-lol!  That way any inside zippered pockets, etc, would be easily seen.  And, for me, inside zippered pockets are always a bonus!!  A place to stash my id and/or my keys and pocket change.  I don't even own a wallet!  I guess I am a minimalist.  Grin
Also, I love that you have custom orders.  Could that black bag that you show as being available for monogram, be monogramed with perhaps your first initial so we can see what the bag actually looks like with a custom monogram?  There are so many fonts and alphabets that it would be great to actually see the style and size of the monograming on the bag.
And, lastly, can you have a blurb about custom orders on your front page?  Maybe like, custom monograming available on any order for a nominal fee.  Then if there was room you could include the picture of your black monogramed handbag.
Just my 2 cents.  Hope some of this is helpful Smiley

Thanks for all the reassurance and ideas!!
I hope to build on my inventory some this weekend.

I'm not sure how I could incorporate the photos of the insides of the bags... ideas? (unfortunately, no zippered pockets yet.)  I know I need to actually monogram on that fabric to show what it would look like.  A project for this weekend. Smiley And, also, I do plan to have a blurb about the custom options on the front page when I redo the front page, the one thats there is really just a "hi, here is my purdy new website" sort of deal.

I loooove the idea of showing a detail view of the fabrics, as they are really fun fabrics and the embroideries are so much cuter up close... I guess I could do a "click for detail view" type thing below the original image and have the image change to a close up of the fabric or embroidery when clicked, right? (not that I have any idea exactly how to do that... but if I can figure out i-frames....)

thanks again!

Your site looks fantastic. My site is fairly new also. Up since April of this year. would you like to link? Let me know.

When I first opened the site, I was pleasantly surprised. It's extremely professional, clear to navigate, and complimented with a lovely color palette. I have only a few suggestions...

1. I feel it's important to be accomodating to people with 800x600 screens. It's an annoyance to have to scroll a few inches just to finish part of a sentence.

2. Make sure everything is spell-checked and grammatically correct. Under the section heading of "New in the Plaid Room," the two "whats" should be hyphenated. Under "Featured Products" you spelled "little" as "litte".

The purses are adorable! Best of luck on your venture.

Thanks again for the comments.  Some of the spelling errors you mentioned are in images so they will take  a little more work...buuuut I am almost ready to do an update.  Smiley  So those images will likely change soon anyways.
I will be participating in an auction to benefit Bichon (dog) rescues soon and will have that info on my site!

I was so pleased to hear that many folks were pleasently surprised by my site. Smiley

Another thing.... I am loking for opinions, I am considering changng the plaid seasonally to matcht he colors of the current season.  Good? Bad?

Ooh, I LOVE the layout. It is way too cute.. the colors look beautiful together! I think you definitely need more pictures, though, so we know what the lining looks like and everything. If you look at http://www.sewingstars.com, she takes lots of pictures and I think that helps everyone to be able to tell the good quality of the items. Smiley

I really love it, though. All your stuff is adorable and looks very well made Smiley I'm sure you'll be selling loads in no time! Cheesy

Oh, just something I noticed - the "Featured Product" link on the front page doesn't open inside the frame. Cheesy

Your prices are very low, which is great.. I think you might be able to charge a little bit more for your time and effort, to make it more worthwhile for you. Maybe you could start with lower prices to attract customers, then, with newer items, raise the prices gradually.

I agree with everyone - the site is very professional looking and easy to navigate. The design is clean and uncluttered. I design websites for a living so I've seen my share of bad and good ones!

My comments:
- I agree with the above comments regarding the additional pictures of the products. I would love to see swatches of the fabrics and the inside of the purses. It's nice to see the details - ie. type of zippers, lining color, etc.

- This next comment is one of those just little picky things I notice. The phone image in the contact us page could go at least 20% smaller. It stands out from the rest of the site where your proportions are more delicate and consistent.

- What color is used for the initial on the monogrammed purse?

Your products look very well crafted and I'm sure your site will be a hit!

What a super cute site - and it looks very professional.

I love the little button bobby pin clips! Smiley Super Sweet!

A couple more little things:

1. You have a button Purses and Totes. Next to this button there is a button Accessories. I would specify what kind of accessories - I would say 'Hair accessories', or 'Bobby Pins', or simply 'Pins'. Because the definition of the word Accessories is very W I D E  , and btw includes Purses and Totes also.

2. http://www.theplaidroom.com/purse.html

I have two scroll bars on the same page. All this pictures would fit one page without a single scroll bar.

3. Another thing on the same page - The names of the second row bags are right above the third row pictures. So I was confused - A tote with dragonflies had a name 'B&W Plaid Purse'  Shocked

Other than that your site looks great!

I love the site. I saw the Vintage Rose Handbag and now I am actually crying. Why?

My parents don't want me ordering things online "right now."

I love that bag.

Keep up the good work.

I think I love you...
