Yes, there are many projects for a less experienced knitter in Last Minute Knitted Gifts!

Thanks, Gertie_T.  Could I prevail upon you to provide a project list?  My book store does not have this title, so I'd have to order it online.  I already own Weekend Knitting, and am wondering if this one will be too similar or if there are enough unique projects to warrant a purchase.

Thanks for the info, Gertie_T!!!!  I was worried about purchasing a title that would be completetly useless to me for this year's season, but this sounds like a safe bet!

I LOVE JON STEWART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry... just had to state that for the record. A few years ago, a friend of mine photoshopped me into a picture with him so it looked like he had his arms around me... *sigh* He is yummy! ( just don't tell my hubby the extent of my lust for Jon...it might make him feel inadequate)...
Maybe I should use the "knit your own rockstar" instructions to knit a Jon Stewart... hmmm... ideas are brewing in my head...  Wink

At my LYS, we were lucky to get a trunk show of samples from Last Minute Knitted Gifts - they actually sent us one of every project in the book - so we got lots of time to fondle, consider, and model all the options.  You can see some of them on our store blog: http://www.knithappens.net/index.php/knitone/blog/congratulations_a_fo_and_a_show/

The leg warmers are great for more than just warming legs, by the way.  We found they also worked for arms, or, if you sewed the ends and stuffed it could make a lovely little door-draft-blocker, among other things.  There is a great, crazy-long scarf made by holding together Manos del Uruguay and Rowan Kidsilk Haze (trust me, it comes out neat and soft).  One kind of goofy project is a large floor pillow made out of the Blue Sky Alpaca bulky.  Obviously, you could substitute the yarn, but still - that's an expensive thing to sit on the floor (I think, at least).  Some fuzzy little baby booties, a stuffed elephant (no donkey, unfortunately), a fluffy dainty mohair scarf...  Plenty of other great projects in there, too.

P.S. Happy Voting Day!  VOTE!

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it already, but the SNB Nation (paperback) is available at bn.com now.   Grin

It's available on bn.com?! Woo hoo! I pre-ordered mine at my local bn, so hopefully I'll be getting a call from them soon! Yay!

acesulfamek, thanks for the cool link re: Last Minute Knitted Gifts. How fabulous that you got to see the trunk show!

ax174, it's not too similar to Weekend Knitting, I guess it just has a similar feel because it was edited by the same author, Melanie Falick. The projects are very different though. Now buy it! (if you want, I can e-mail you  a list of the projects)

Eeeeeeeee!  If I fail my first semester of grad school, it's all Debbie's and Jenny Hart's fault.   Grin  Why study when I could be knitting (and embroidering)??
