I'm looking at your afghan again and it is so fab.  I can see that the successs of your design is because you chose to keep the squares all in the blue colorway or all in the purple colorway.  That and the larger granny squares make this one extra nice.

Ezri_B, I joined the squares together using single crochet. You put two squares right-side together and single crochet across a side, then hold up another pairing of squares, with right-sides together and continue crocheting. You'll end up with the whole afghan pieced together and then you crochet across the other direction, completing the joins. It goes very quickly, I like it better than sewing it all together.

It's BEAUTIFUL!  And I love the joining by single crochet, looks crisp, might have to steal that idea on my next granny blanket.

Well done!

Great idea for joining!  Do you join them in strips and then join the stirips?

Love the colors on your lapghan!  What kind of yarn is it?

Yes ,I joined first two rows together in a strip, and then added the next row to one side of that strip, and so on. Then crocheted across each row in the other direction. Does that make sense?

The yarn was just acrylic, I think it was a mix of plain old Red Heart and Baby Soft.

When you do that, what does it look like on the "wrong" side? Also the border is very nice. Did you carry colours or is it just variegated yarn?
