Hello,

My crafty prowess usually resides in clothing, but I will be getting a new apartment in a month that has gorgeous bay windows and a little deck, so I would like to do some container gardening.

I am also writing an article about container gardening and window planting for new gardeners like me.

Does anyone have any special tips on getting started (specifically for Chicago or colder weather areas), any horrendous mishaps I can avoid? Any help would be appreciated and if I use your advice in the story I will credit you.

Thanks in advance!
