This is my first post with pictures so I hope it works. This is my first attempt at felting, and as you can see the bag is kind of sausage shaped! I didn't realise that it would shrink so much more in length than width.

I didn't felt it all the way, because I wanted to keep some stitch definition, and I wanted to keep the cable on the front looking like a cable! I decided to felt it because it was too floppy but didn't want to sew any lining.

Although its a bit funny looking I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Now I need your help with ideas for a clasp.. I was thinking maybe velcro?

Thanks!  Smiley

Karynlibrarian: I used one and a half skeins of Rowan Big Wool Fusion in Tapestry. Although it wasn't cheap, I didn't use much of it, and it was so quick to knit up as I used a combination of 12mm and 9mm needles.

I love the shape, and the cable is very cool. What about one of those magnetic snaps? I like those better than velcro.

I love the way it turned out!  Did you use a pattern or just wing it?  I think it's a good size.  If you decided not to carry it for a purse, it would make a cool knitting bag for small projects.

And I second the magnetic clasp idea.

Mistake?  No... it's an Unexpected Design Element.  I put it there on purpose.  *ahem*

very, very nice! I like the colour and the shape.
I agree with magnetic clasp: I would think that velcro would snag the bag a lot.
I too am interested whether you followed a pattern, or made your own. Either way, great job!   Smiley

I made it up as I went along, but I did write down notes so if anyone is interested I could post a pattern  Smiley

I've used magnetic clasps before, but I attached them to a lining.. If I attach them to a felted bag won't the pokey ends show through the other sides? I love magnetic clasps but I really don't want to make a lining, as I can't really sew and I'm worried I'll screw up the bag!

can you sew the magnetic snaps to a small peice of ribbon or fabric, and sew that to the purse?

If you don't mind posting the pattern I am sure many people would love to see it! Like... me, for instance...  Grin

i love that!!,.

what about one of those spiffy snap clasps? if its not felted all the way you might be able to slip it in through some stitches and attach it that way
