I personally don't think there's anything wrong with swapping outside the main swap the way you are proposing. If someone put up their 8 swatches and another member said "I claim number 2 and number 6, I'll also take number 3 and 7 in a personal swap" that might be too much  Smiley

I guess the question is whether you are taking anything away from people who are in the swap.

That's why I'm compelled to ask and hear what people think. Smiley I got worried that maybe someone was holding out for "next time it'll be up for claiming", and then I wouldn't be fair for trying to bypass... Sad

So I'll extend the question to "is anyone else waiting for those fabrics in this swap", together with my "are the owners of the fabric willing" (if they still have it!)

Oy.  I'm late to the party...as usual Tongue  Here's what I think.

Personal swaps are awesome.  As long as you're not making arrangements for a personal swap while the person's list of fabrics is currently up for claim, it's perfectly acceptable.  For example, as I'm typing this, Qwerty's stash is up for grabs.  It would be unfair (in my opinion...) to pm her and try for a personal swap either because you've used up your claims or for whatever other reason.

When another person comes along and chooses from Qwerty's stash and in turn posts a new list of fabrics to choose from, then it's perfectly acceptable to contact Qwerty and see if she's willing to do a personal swap.  Afterall, when it's time for Qwerty to make another claim, she's under no obligation to offer the same fabric choices!

Did I make sense?  I'm on sinus medication and my brain is wonky Tongue

Made perfect sense Smiley

"That's my lab table and this is my work-stool. And over there is my intergalactic spaceship! And here's where I keep assorted lengths of wire."

...oh, if it wasn't clear, I'm rarely completely serious. Smiley
