Looking to meet some fellow Aggies who prefer crafting/getting together/cooking to Northgating on the weekends. Any takers?

Also, is there any kind of crafting organization on campus? I haven't been able to find (an official) one.

I'm an Aggie that now lives in Portland, OR.  I graduated in '97.  Hope you find some cool people to craft with in College Station!

Hi!  My husband and I are actually moving to College Station this Friday!  I love that you're wanting to hang out with other crafters.  I was thinking about posting something about meeting other like minded people when we moved in & got settled.  So let's keep in touch & maybe we can arrange a time to meet up & if all goes well hopefully organize a stitch & bitch of some sort!  Hope to hear from you soon!

Hello hello,

I am an Aggie interested in crafting.  I do screenprinting by hand and just a little sewing, I am interested in other stuff that I don't know much about like knitting and spinning, and I'm hoping to get a knitting machine, a castoff from my aunt.  I don't know of any crafting organizations on campus.

Craft nite?

Sorry! I'm in New Braunfels instead of B-CS but often come to A&M for various functions. Is the rubber stamp store which had the license for Aggie logos, etc. doing business still? I thought its store on College had shut down, but would love to get a variety of some of those stamps....and they had the only true maroon ink pad I've ever seen. Even Stampin Up's version is too brown to be a true maroon.

I'm an Aggie.  I'm incredibly new to crafting and such, but I love to learn!  If you ever want to get together let me know, maybe a group of us could meet up...that would be awesome!

Member of the Fighting Texas Aggie class of '05 (WHOOP!)

I'm a beader, painter, and general crafter, pretty soaked up in AggieCon right now (the Science Fiction / Fantasy convention)... but if you'd like to meet up, I'm usually up at Double Daves on University every tuesday night a little after 9. I'll be upstairs, with a bunch of other wierdos, many of whom are also crafters! We've got a girl who works with copper wire, another that does stained glass, several of us are artists, etc...

If you'd like to meet some people, I can also suggest coming to the Cepheid Variable meetings, tuesday nights at 8:33 in Rudder Tower, our room changes every week, so check the blue screens.

I've always thought AggieCon would be a great place to sell craft items. Are there local vendors?
Let's meet up! I'll PM you guys and maybe we can meet up some time after Spring Break.
Deamon: Since you are a Ceph person, I gotta ask - are you into FRUiTS? =p

Yes, there are local vendors! The tables are $85 a piece, if you're interested in getting one, or the art panels are only $5 a piece (I'll have 2 this year!) and you can put up about anything you want to hang for auction. They have tables in art auction too, I think that they're $5 for a 3x6 table, and $3 for a half table. Art auction does charge a comission, but it's fairly low. A group of friends will be at one of the tables hawking their wares, the stained glass maker, my room mate who will have animal hats (So far, there's a panda, rabbit, cat x 2, and Cthulu... the elder god who started this whole thing Tongue ) and an artist... one or two more I think... The only thing is, if you get a table, you have to man it. You will get (I think) 2 con passes. In the art auction, they take care of all of the money exchange for you, and will mail you a check after the Con, but you have to pay for your own con passes (totally worth it if you ask me)

Check out our website to get into touch with anyone, aggiecon@tamu.edu
I've put together an awesome guest line up this year, Red vs. Blue, Michael Moorcock, Todd McCaffery, Elizabeth Moon... all very exciting. And, aside from running around Con making sure all of the guests are where they're supposed to be, yours truely will be on stage for the live Rocky Horror Picture Show as the criminologist (I picked a little role, Guest Relations is a time consuming job!)

And, if by Fruits, do you mean Fruits Baskets? Because I love that anime... or what I've seen of it Tongue

PM me anytime, I leave my comp online so whenever is good. Monday and Tuesday nights are no good for me (all Con and Cepheid stuff!)

No, by Fruits I mean the style of Japanese fashion. I think there is a thread on Craftster somewhere about it.
(Hmm... I made a Genma stained glass a few years ago, wonder if that would sell at AggieCon...)
