The Sophie pattern from magknits.com seems to be a popular pattern and I happen to be making my 2nd one for my mom right now so I thought I would start a knitalong. I can't wait to see your pictures!
Here's the site for the pattern: http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/sophie.htm

I'm going to try to make another one this week myself. It is such a cute bag and knits up very quickly!

Yay! I just started working on this last night!  I'm hoping that I'll be able to use it as my bag for a wedding I am attending in August.  I have a few reservations though - I have had some issues with felting Cascade 220 (the yarn I'm using). I used this type of yarn to previously make "Fuzzy Feet" and the "Suki" bag, but was not impressed with the felting - I didn't think my stuff shrank enough, but couldn't get it to go any farther!  We now have a new washer, so that may help.  Any tips?

Hi BeccaU,

For felting fun, try this craftster thread:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=5874.0

it has some tips and links and advice.

i used cascade 220 for some fuzzy feet and they felted pretty well.  your new washer might help.  it also depends on the color - white yarns don't felt as well, from what i hear.    the knitty article mentioned in that thread is excellent reading.

not to repeat what others have said/linked to, but i use a zippered pillowcase thing and hot water, a squirt of dishsoap and a pair of old jeans (not towels).  i was always afraid things would shrink too much, but it seems like sometimes the process takes longer to get going than you think it would.  and then suddenly, shrinkage!

i'm itching to start some sophie bags myself.  i've made a booga bag, a free pattern by the same designer, so i'm excited to try out a new design by her...

hope this helps,
xo,

I finished the knitting for the bag last night- now I just need to do the felting.  Sadly, the bf did laundry while i was still knitting, so there are no dirty jeans to be thrown in with it.

well, i finished 2 more! the one for my sister is the yellow and blue one on the right...i used a smaller yarn, and the bag itself is smaller (i think it came out pretty cute  Wink) and i added a button to keep it closed.

i love the one on the left - maybe i'll keep it! i used a tahki magic yarn, the color is called sand and sea...
i look forward to seeing all of your bags...
