sorry, i just had to say it once. these charcoal drawings are each about 7 feet by 3 feet, making the figures life-sized.  they were based on edwardian-era crime-scene photographs, and are stenciled all over with text.
in case you're curious about the stenciling technique, it was done by 1. cutting text stencils out of heavy paper 2. laying them onto the drawing and either erasing through them  or rubbing charcoal through with the tip of my finger.

wowie wow wow. these are great. they strike me as a cross between dave mckean and some of the sam and twitch covers (a comic that i am currently pouring over). they have a sort of dreamy realism. you must draw more dead people.

those are amazing! I just wish I could see them in person because I have a feeling their size makes them all the more powerful  Smiley

Beautiful. Strangely, the lines are so nice that they don't feel violent and if you hadn't said they were based on crime scene photos, it wouldn't have occurred to me- at least not immediately. I like the 7'x3' shape too!
How did you stencil text on top? With what medium?

those are so beautiful! my roommate is a mortition so ive gotten to the point where dead ppl are an everyday occurrence! i think they are wonderful. are the crime scene pictures real pictures?

I paint these little pictures with a temporary poison. each one just like the other. i wonder why i even bother.

They are incredible.  Like someone else said, they are so beautiful and soft and seem so calm, but when you look closer you realize what the subject matter is.  For some weird reason it brings to mind that scene in Goodfellas where they're finding all these dead bodies in strange places but a nice non-threatening song is playing, so it makes the sight of dead bodies even more powerful.  Excellent work.
