I did duct tape roses for my boyfriend this Valentine's Day, though I added a few extras... I did a full dozen, with duct tape leaves, coated copper wire stems, duct tape fern and coated wire baby's breath.

It's hard to see in the pics, but each leaf has a slanty thorn on the opposite side of the stem. I did this by folding a piece of duct tape and cutting it straight across on one end and slanty at the other, with just a little bit of straight tape overlapping the stem, and then folded the slanty bit over twice to make a double thorn and secured it with the straight overlap. I used scissors to cut a leaf shape, then creased them lengthwise so that they look more leafy and catch the light better.

The fern is just doubled up tape tapered and cut in slits with scissors. The baby's breath is white coated wire that I coiled with pliers and then wrapped tape around the straight bits.

I hope you liked it! It took a lot of colored duct tape to do all of this, about 50 yards of red and about 25 of green.

I love it. I wanted to do this for my boyfriend but I ran out of time to go find colored duct tape. oh well. It'll have to be a "just because" gift. Nice job.

Wow, they're so pretty! I really want to make these for my boyfriend, but I have no idea where to get duct tape around here. Where did you get it and about how much did it cost?

I must find some red duct tape.. instead of my neon orange and green, hah!

I can't ever to get mine to come out this nice either.  Maybe it's because I've only made two.. haha.

It was so sweet to see this thread pop up again.

I got the duck tape at Lowes in a multipack with lots of colors, but today I saw bigger rolls at Michael's in individual colors, including lipstick red and leaf green.
