Basically, I want to turn the basement into a gameroom/bar/manroom for my BFfor valentine's day...what i need is to build/buy/recon a cheap bar, and set it up to be a place he'd want to hang out.  He is a video game freak, THE guitar hero(has 3 guitars), has gotten into airsoft lately, and we just got a dartboard that has yet to be hung.  There is a picture below of the type of bar i want.

Hunt craig's list and freecyle for a free kitchen cabinet section, and countertop. even if you just get the countertop, you can build the base yourself out of plywood. You can really use anything-a dresser, a kitchen island, I've even seen a really neat idea of turning an old changing table into a bar.
Good luck, and have fun!!!

Thanks sweetiepickles!  I didn't think of that for some reason lol Tongue

samurii....its so funny you should say that!  He does construction mostly for people whose tenants have skipped out on their rent and anything they leave behind is fair game...and yesterday he found this really sweet electric dartboard that came inside a cabinet so the doors can be closed when he's not using it!

could you construct it your self with plywood? Or how about using a wide bookshelf as a base? For the top you could use that bumper edging they sell for childproofing Cheesy

hmmm...i could try to construct it...plywood isn't too expensive, right?  I wish I could use his old dresser for this..it would make it so much easier, but I don't want him to flip out over me destroying his dresser(that he doesn't even use!)

I agree if you use an old book shelf then you will have storage under the bar for bottles, glasses and stuff like that! And you can just use some cheap plywood or MDF board and make the top.
