Well, it's like this... my dear otaku chum was watching Beyblades and she pointed out that Rei's hair is insanely cool. I was inclined to agree. Since then I have made it my quest to find out how to do my hair like his.

I think I've cracked it.

First you put your hair in a plait. I'm crap at doing just one, so I did pigtails, although it doesn't really matter if you muck it up much.

Then you get a long strip of cloth. If it's the kind that frays, you can hem it, but I just used leftover velour. Tongue

Tie one end of it to the top of the plait.

Then wind it round and round the length of it, covering it up as you go. It helps if you overlap the winds a bit to make sure it's covered well.

Then just get a scrunchie/elastic band/bit of string and tie it off at the bottom.

Yeeeee! Grin

(Don't try strangling yourself with your hair at home.)

Lovely.  I'm half Native and have a pair of traditional beaver fur hair wraps, but I would have never thought to use a fabric to make a more modern, hip set of hair wraps.  Now that my hair is growing out again I'll have to remember this. Smiley

Ooh, fur! What a good idea... I think I have some fake fur lying around too. Cheers. Grin
