So, I was commissioned over Christmas to create a custom sleeve as a gift, and I'm finally getting around to posting it. Funny how I made it instead of studying for my finals. le sigh. (I passed, though!)

anyway, I'm really pleased with it. It's a brown twill exterior, cotton quilted batting black interior, with dark brown vinyl trim on the outside, with a silscreened vespa & "vroom vroom" stamped, to top it all off.

I was very pleased with how it turned out! What do you think?

Did you have any trouble silk screening on vinyl?  How did you set it (would ironing the back work on something that thick?)

I love it and I love the idea of silk screening images onto vinyl as decals!

That's amazing!

I know a lot of friends who would love one of those.

Is there any chance of you ever posting a tutorial on how to make one?

thanks so much everyone!

screening on vinyl is easier than you think. just don't use fabric ink. use acrylic ink, and you're all set- you won't have to heat-set anything. I drew it on my screen with screenfiller, basically (carefully), w/ inspiration from a photograph thanks to google photos.

when I make my next sleeve, I'll maybe take some pics along the way... not too much time for it right now, as it's one of the projects that takes me the longest.

thanks for your positive comments! I think I'm going to make some more like this for sale on my site, as I've gotten such encouragement about it, despite that fact that it was a specific commission!

*grin* If you're really interested, pm me about what you'd want your bag to be like, and we can work something out Smiley

Thanks for the positivity, guys. I'm studying graphic design, and my school has a mandatory laptop program requirement (can you believe they didn't make us aware of this until 2 months before school started?) and I noticed people were actually coming to school with their laptops wrapped in towels & such. I'm trying to figure out how to market these at school!

dude, that's so great!  you have the perfect market - people who appreciate design and have naked laptops!

set up an etsy shop if you haven't already - http://www.etsy.com - and take orders through their alchemy bit.  post the name of your shop on flyers with a picture of this super cute sleeve!  you're all set!

or... your flyers could have a "before" picture of a laptop clothed in cheap-o towel and an "after" picture of it looking hot in this... laptop makeover!!!  (okay, i'm a nerd, but you get my drift...)

These are great suggestions, although I already have an online shop, so I don't think I'll go through the etsy route... I figure I can just advert custom requests to come via email.... but the flyer thing is great... maybe I'll do a special student discount!

yup- I use quilted batting for padding & the outer twill is a super-duper strong fabric, almost denimy.... so it makes for a pretty sturdy little unit!

I absolutely love it!

I just have a few questions.
Does it have a shoulder strap at all?
What are the approximate demensions... I mean does it just hold the laptop or does it hold more than that?

I so want one now! But you did an amazing job on it... it's my all time favorite.

I also really liked your typewriter set - so adorable, and I am SO in love with the round front pocket w/ contrast fabric! Keep it up, I can't wait to see more!

to answer these questions, yes, I ended up putting an adjustable strap on this piece later on... Dimension-wise, it was created as a simple sleeve, so there aren't any extra pockets or anything like that. On another I did following this, though, I added a large pocket on the back for extras and such.... so it can be done pretty painlessly.

Thank you to everyone for all your wonderful blush-inducing comments!
