Okay, so basically, a harmonious combination of themed swaps and the OTT swaps.  I was thinking, they'd basically be a two-month themed kinda thing, with signups beginning at the start of the first month, and sendout at the beginning of the second month.  So, for example:

February/March - Love or Luck swap (loosely based on St. Val's and St. Pat's, but more open)
Sign-ups Feb 1 to Feb 15
Mail-outs March 1

All the themes I've thought of are somewhat based on what happens during those two months, but I wanted to leave them vague enough to allow for lots of artistic license:

Feb/March - Love or Luck - St. Val's or St. Pat's, Hearts, Pink & Red, Green, Shamrocks, Horseshoes, etc.
April/May - Showers and Flowers - Rain, clouds, umbrellas, flowers, trees, spring colors, etc.
June/July - Sand and Sun - Suns, beachy stuff, palm trees, fancy summer cocktails, outdoor recreation/garden

and so on.

I'm certainly open to everyone's opinions/suggestions on the themes, and there's a possibility that, if enough people are interested, it could be a TWO tiny thing swap.  What do you think?

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box

I think it's a good idea.. but I seriously caution against on-going swaps. They can really lose momentum etc.. I started one and it had only 8 people and they were all experienced swappers and I thought it would be a breeze and it's been a nightmare. At this point very few people bother to post in the thread, respond to my posts or show pics of their items. It might work better to have sign ups each time.. that way you can renew interest in it. I love the idea, but I've sworn off on-going swaps at this point.

Sorry I've been absent! Can't wait to chill with you all again Smiley

I would be in it but it would depend on the theme.  I certainly wouldn't want to do a different themed OTT swap every month.  I wouldn't be able to commit to every month. Some months I am busier than others.

It wouldn't be an ongoing swap, it would be separate swaps for every couple of months.  You could sign up for a theme you like, or months when you have time, and then skip the next ones if you wanted.

I think the themes you thought up are great but not ones I would be interested in. maybe stuff a little less obvious like for summer umm I dunno... ice cream? or maybe not seasonally linked at all so that it wouldn't affect southern hemisphere participants

and he said unto the people of the hills and valleys " and all ye who eat brunch shall be damned to hell" and unto the people of the plains and seas "ditto"
