Okay, so using Super Chunky is really important. These tiny slippers were done in Red Heart Super Saver and they came out to only 2" (that's the bottom of an iPod in the photo for perspective). I laughed my head off and when I was done, I decided to make a pair as some lucky doll or stuffy can probably wear some ruby red slippers!

No -  I only had brown chunky wool in my stash so that wouldn't be appropriate. Any one else have problems with them being too small?

you're right, dancingboots, if you don't use chunky yarn, they'll come out tiny! i used wool ease (Worsted) the first time i made them, just to try out the pattern, and they ended up being a little over an inch long! if you're not knitting for preemies with feet that tiny, you can try using worsted double stranded (knitting with two strands held together). that's what i did, and i got gauge and they came out the right size.

happy knitting!  Cheesy

It's in Stitch N Bitch Nation. You might be able to find a similar pattern online if you don't have the book, or access to it, but I couldn't find one when I looked.

Here's my version, made for my boss who just had his first baby (can you tell it was a girl?):
They were made on Valley Yarns Shelburne (alpaca, wool, and acrylic blend of some sort) on needles about 2 sizes bigger than what the pattern called for. I think the baby will be able to wear them to her high school prom they turned out so big.

Here they are all wrapped up! I think the box really makes the gift.
