so. i get majorly bummed around valentine's day. because there is so much cute stuff to buy. and i love red and pink and hearts. and i just feel especially crafty and want to make mix tapes and sweaters and mushy valentines. but alas, i have no one to give these wonderful goodies to. high school boys suck. they'll appreciate me later.

anyway. i decided that this year i'm going to have a tea party for all my boyfriendless gal pals. my mom collects tea pots so we're each going to get a different tea pot. and the invitations are going to be all fancy and lacy and goopy and wonderful. and everyone gets a fun name like "madame ________" or "lady __________" or "duchess __________". because i'm a dork. everyone will be asked to dress nicely in red and pink and white and bring a small gift. we'll have have a chinese auction type thing so we can each get a valentines present. even if it's not from a boy. and then we'll probably watch some audrey hephburn movie or sixteen candles and swoon and whatnot.

so the purpose of me posting all of this was...
does anyone have any other ideas? foodwise? gamewise? decorationwise?
i know it'll be ten times better with craftster imput.

last night was tea party night. and even though a i had a lot of people bail out on me, it was still a crap load of fun. everyone dressed up and we had chicken salad sandwiches and pb&j and cucumber sandwiches and cream puffs and a cherry chip heart shaped cake and a butt load of cookies. and then we had a chinese auction and watched sabrina. and then we all fell asleep. you would think we're forty. but no. we're just a bunch of teenage girls who get a little sleepy past nine o'clock on a friday night. overall it was fairly banging. thanks for all the suggestions!

i made a valentines day mix cds for the invitations. it was uber sappy and cute. yet still danceable.

various table shots and shtttuufffff.....the circus tea pot is my favorite.
yeah. so after we woke up...
we were all kinda out of it. so we danced.

check out muh fly moves.
and my spectacular skirt. that started out as a dress. but then i got frustrated cause i looked bad in it so i cut it in half. yeaaahhh. not the smartest thing to do.
but i like it better as a skirt anyway.

Just get some of the nice fruit or floral teas, and make cute little tea cakes!

I love tea parties.

Oh! I want to come!  Sad  If you are in the US check the Target "dollar spot" for heart shaped ice trays, etc. I also have heart shaped individual tart pans that are lovely for little fruit tarts etc. You could get lovely little petit fours, make egg & cress sandwiches with the crusts cut off, nice goat cheese, walnut & pear salads,  croissants with chicken salad, lovely cheese & fruit & crackers, sparkling fruit spritzers or water with lemon, profiteroles, or heart shaped creme brulees: all lovely pretty girly foods, wear party skirts, play 1940's French music. You could make little favors and wrap them in tulle, secured with sequins, and make pretty place cards. And lots of flowers! Maybe an individual rosebud at each place. Awww...it sounds like so much fun!! I wish I had more girlfriends in my new city!

try searching tea parties on her they have some great ideas, b/c yesterday i just decided i also would like to have one.  Just make anything sweet that you normally like but make it in a mini form to keep it dainty and not overly filling.

they do, and they will.  Smiley

i second the cute little cakes.  decorated with pink and white frosting and strawberries and stuff.  mmmm!  maybe even just make a bunch of cupcakes and decorate them to look like mini cakes.

What fun... tea parties for big girls ROCK.
I totally support the tiny finger sandwiches and petit fours.... snazzy cakes are always a fun way to go.

You could also serve little quiches....easy to make.  I love using curry seasoning in quiches....it's delicious.

oo, use candles! day or night time.  the tallest you can find, because they are beautiful! and deffinently flowers, as much as you can! move all your house plants and flowers into whatever room youll be in and then youll be surrounded by beautiful things! and then play fun games like that one..um..i dont know what its called, but you sit in the persons lap and say, if you love me baby, wont you please PLEASE smile!? and they arent supposed to smile Tongue and if you have some friends that are very not happy with boys or who are very not happy with not having one, you should deffinently have a pinata. a heart shaped one, but really really strong so everyone who needs too can beat it to heck  Roll Eyes
sigh, i almost  Wink want to be single so i can have a cute party  Tongue girls appreciate it...guys not so much

You can always play card games like gin rummy!

One of my friends was considering hosting a tea party, and found this site helpful:
