My husband's laptop was starting to accumulate its fair share of scratches so I knitted him this cover for it as a Christmas gift. He is really into Kurt Cobain and Nirvana.

I used the brightest orange yarn I could find for the body, and installed a zipper for the closure. I wonder if I will ever get better at installing zippers! I really have a hard time with them!

For the portrait part, I found a Cobain painting online and used knitPro (http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro.htm) to make a chart. I cleaned up the chart so it only used 3 colors like the painting.

The portrait was knitted as a separate piece and stitched on. I thought if the cover got worn out later we could take the it off and use it for something else. This was my first attempt at any kind of intarsia/fair isle, so I ended up using a mish-mosh of both techniques. I'm not sure if it was done "correctly", but I am ok with how it looks.

I think it was his favorite gift!
