I'm trying to figure out how they are put on too!  I believe it's with some sort of glue.  There is this V shaped transparent sheet of plastic or something.  I'm not quite sure the process.... but i'm sure the directions are really really funny.

Makes you love the idea of wigs a whole lot more!

that shirt is incredible.  i found out what a merkin was a few years ago and i feel that it's one of the best words, mainly because nobody knows what it is.  at my old high school, (just because it was our senior year and we felt like inducing chaos) we made 300 flyers that said "merkins of the world unite."  we anonymously passed them around the whole school, stuffed them in lockers, etc.  the administration went crazy, they thought it was a gang or racial slur.  then we even had the little freshman insulting people, i once heard a kid call someone else "merkin-ass."  i just walked by their little verbal argument with a simle on my face, knowing that they had no idea what a merkin was.

sorry, i know that was an incredibly long and unnecessary reply, but i just had to smile when i saw your post and felt that i should share my experience with the ever humorously reliable merkin.

you rock...and your merkin too.

an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

this was too interesting/hilarious/bizarre. i had to do some extra research. this had some interesting tidbits.

and the merkin legacy continues-im glad to know the merkin has practical modern applications today- serving to let strippers get around pesky no-full nudity clauses!
i liked the two merkin quotes from 1714 and 1680 too.

(BTW- im brand new here. have been alongtime member of getcrafty and thrilled to have found craftster)
ducks can do it too

Funny how times have changed, now everyone just shaves it all off.  Next time there's an uncomfortable silence in a conversation I'll know how to fill it.  thanks for the random factoid!

What an ineresting topic!    Shocked

<<in some states strippers have to wear them because its illegal to show their girl parts so the merkin makes them look nakeder>>

Other states the girls aren't supposed to show nipples (gasp! a nipple!!) the funniest part of this is that most of them just glue on fake rubber nipples over there own!  LOL

Now it's the name for a mop... that's what came to mind when I first saw your topic. I saw like "Why is she making a mop?"....

Here's a funny site.

playboy actually uses merkins because it's "raunchier" to be shaved.  they like the classic look, so if a model doesn't have any hair down there, they hafta wear a merkin.  my boyfriend and i ALWAYS make merkin jokes, and it was great seeing your shirt!!
