Here's my sister's Xmas present...she's the kind of girl who will appreciate this.

Start with one free ball of Bernat Disco in bright turquose (hmm, what can I do with this free gaudy yarn?)
Stir in Aurucania (sp?) Nature Wool in a variegated turquoise and Bernat Boa in another variegated turquoise from your stash, add a few teddy bear eyes and a hair clip, and you have

Knitty.com's Vegan Fox Stole!

aww man I just used my free ball of disco for a plain ol' garter stitch scarf. I seriously cast off ablout an hour ago. I wish I had thought of the vegan fox pattern. My ball was brown too. I love your blue version. Crazy cute.

I think I might make one for myself after Christmas, only in reds and oranges.  Then he can be a Firefox! And I will name him Mozilla.  (sorry, nerdy joke there)

It was a remarkably easy pattern, except for the wrestling with the clip that holds him together under his head.  But it is quite forgiving.

Man, that just made me laugh so hard!

That is great, by the way. I really need to learn how to knit! I'm sure your sister will love it!

I was all excited when you said you had used vegan wool, but it looks like your Nature Wool is, in fact, made from an animal, so your lovely scarf is not vegan after all.  Oops...

Ooops! I didn't mean to mislead.  The pattern is just called Vegan Fox on Knitty, and I just used stuff I had in my stash.

...incidentally, is it POSSIBLE to have vegan wool?  I mean WOOL wool, not yarn wool?  Would it have to be something the sheep shed on its own rather than sheared?  Hmm, this is a quandary...I'd like some theories, or answers from someone who knows.

You can "pluck" sheep (hey now, none of *those* jokes!), but as far as I understand the definition of vegan, that still wouldn't count.

But maybe it is best not to raise the vegan/petroleum industry argument on yet another thread...  Goodness knows you can find enough discussion of this in the archives.

Anyway, your little fox is super-cute!!!!

That is the cutest thing ever.  I have wanted to make this for ages.  You have re-inspired me.
