I have these two friends that were foreign exchange students at my school. One from Italy and the other from France. They both leave to go home in about 3 days and I really wanna get/make them something. Any suggestions please.  Wink

hi! What about marble magnets. You could make them with pictures of you guys together if you have any, or of pics of stuff they like or of anything really b/c these magnets are so cute. You could then put them in an altoid or aol tin decorated up all nice and then there you have a cool gift. hmm another cute idea lets see.. you could make them a cute journal one side decorated with their country's pictures like the eiffel tower or whatever and the other side decorated in stuff from your country...then in the middle of the cover you could have a pic of the two of u. i dunno if that makes sense but ya those r my ideas.

You could make a collage of pics of you guys and frame it....it wouldnt have to be given in 3 days but you could send it to them...I had a friend do this once and I love it sooo much!

An immediate going away present could be care packages for the plane ride back for them.
Some snacks they like...a small project or game or puzzle for them to do and be occupied on the trip.
You could try to include a personal pun gift or something only they would understand....
It would be cool to make a cross word puzzle and make all the questions and answers with things that you guys shared together while they were here.

Maybe a CD of songs that remind you of them...that is always cute!
Try writing an away card in their language...im sure they would get a kick out of it.

A stationary set you made, with paper, envelopes and stamps, with some envelopes pre addressed to you, and some phone cards that you can make a cute holder for. This way they have no excuse not to write.

Not super crafty - but after they're gone (in a few months maybe) you could send them a package with some of the local snacks they liked but won't be able to get back in their own countries (like Oreos, maybe).

When my friend Rachel moved away, I make a little (lightweight) blank book, decorated with things about the two of us, and the places we were (where I was staying and where she was going to).  I included some pre-paid envelopes addressed to me.  Rachel kept the book for a month, and used it as a scrapbook for ticket stubs, little bits and photos documenting her first month away.  Then she mailed the book to me, and I used it as a scrapbook for a month, and mailed it back to her.  We kept repeating this until the book was full (and she got to keep it).

It was a really neat gift, because I got to see what her new life in Ann Arbor was like, and she got the slices of home I was providing, and it was like sharing a diary in a way!

that idea for the plane-ride care package sounded really awesome.  you could put some american snacks in there, too.  and don't forget something with an american flag on it.  i almost suggested a mini-flag from their countries of origin, but seeing as they live there, i'm sure they see them all the time.

what about some nice personalized stationary?  or you could make a bunch of cards for them to write back to you with.  you could include stickers, stamps, and pretty envelopes, too.

Hi! I did this for valentines day last year for my boyfriend and he loved them..they might work for this.  I had someone take a digital picture  of my face...close up.  I bought iron on paper from Office Max and ironed my face onto pillowcases. it was really goofy, he had to laugh!
