Having my last betta (sharkbait) meet his fate via the cat, I decided I should find an alternate means of displaying the lair of the new one (betta omega) out of kitty reach (in as much as things can be out of kitty reach).  So the betta came first and I planned to purchase a macrame plant hanger to suspend his bowl from, but couldn't find one that wasn't going to obscure the view of my pretty, social fishy...so, a few months of chasing the cat from his bowl later, I made one:

Well...I wasn't really sure how to do it, either.  I basically took those skills learned making embroidery floss friendship bracelets while spending hours on the phone as a teenager and applied them to making this.  If I get ambitious I'll create a tutorial but I'm not so good with the macrame vernacular.  Tongue

Thanks for the feedback, all.  I think I'll make more for xmas pressies for the sprogs.

Yeah I did all the hemp and friendship braclets and such too, I am sure I could figure out the knots if I sat down and tried. Thanks though, and it looks great.

My first impression is that it seems a little funny to hang a fish bowl from the ceiling, but hey, if it keeps your cat outta the bowl, than that's good!  I'm not criticising or anything, I've just never seen this before  Wink

It's actually suspended from a plant hanger made for outdoor use, but I have 14 foot ceilings in my home so it's hard to make use of vertical space without them and the outdoor ones tend to be far more attractive than the indoor ones.

ha ha... that's really clever...

makes me wanna go out and buy a fish just so I can see the look on my mum's face when I tell her I'm  hanging it from the ceiling...
