Hey y'all, I was wondering if there are any Craftsters in S.K. I live on Geoje Island, which is about a 45-minute boat ride from Busan. We're originally from Houston, but my husband is working here until the fall of 2007. Because I'm here with him on a spousal visa, I can't work (at least not legally) and so I have lotsa free time to craft.

Because the main industry on the island is shipbuilding, there is actually a large ex-patriat community here, but most of the ex-pat wives are much older than me and in a *very* different stage of life than I'm in. The few women here my age (I'm 25) are new moms, so that leaves them little time for social activities. So I've had a hard time finding chicks to socialize with other than a few Korean friends who work all the time.

I did a search for Korea and I know lots of you have been here before, but is anyone here long term? Although the town and island where I live is small, there are several places to get very cheap craft supplies. My crafting skills include knitting, sewing (I have my sewing machine and serger here), and lately, stenciling and making fabric patches.

I am also a (currently unemployed) writer and I spend a lot of my free time designing and redesigning my web site. Basically, if I'm not out jogging with my dog, I'm either on the sewing machine or on the Internet.

I go to Busan at least one weekend a month and would like to meet up with someone, or maybe do some swaps. One of the best things about Korea is the abundance of kitschy knick-knacks like origami paper, cartoon-y stickers, boatloads of fancy pens and markers and notebooks and stationary and more.

Anyway, anyone who's interested can e-mail me, get in touch with me via my site or post here. Cheers!

Psst. Hey you. Lookie here: http://rulebrittaniea.org

hey, i'm in korea. i live in seoul, though, which means there are a lot more resources here. this past weekend i went to namdaemun where there is a 5-story 'alpha' stationery/craft store. there's quite a lot there.
for stuff like fabric, yarn and such, dongdaemun is the place. i also order stuff online (husband is korean -- helps). i'm even ordering a sewing maching this week!
if you plan on visiting seoul in the future, i can give you specific directions to namdaemun or dongdaemun or take you there myself.
welcome to korea!

I moved here to S. Korea in September but haven't been on Craftster for a long long time! I am almost an expert at navigating DongDaeMun fabric market since I am primarily a sewer and go there almost every week for supplies. If anyone here wants info on where to find sewing supplies, send me a note! (I also have been to the Alpha store in NamDaeMun.... O.M.G. That store and the area it is in literally is stationery and crafting heaven in Seoul)  Shocked

I know that this thread is a bit old, but I just moved to Incheon (Bupyeong, to be specific) a couple of months ago and would love to meet some fellow crafters here, whether in Incheon or the Seoul area in general.

With the cold weather right now, I'm mostly inspired to do knitting and crocheting, but one of my goals for the year is to learn embroidery, and I also sew a bit and dabble in just about anything crafty when I have the time.

If anybody would like to meet up, or has any tips (I'm already planning a visit to Dongdaemun), particularly on finding a used or relatively inexpensive sewing machine, I'd love to be in touch!

I'm in South Korea!  I'm closer to Daegu though.  If anyone is down south near Daegu/Waegwan feel free to PM me and maybe we can have a crafty meetup in Daegu ^^
