Just wanted to give a big "thumbs up" to the Amy Butler handbag patterns.  They're cute and for me, they have been a great introduction to sewing. So far I've made a few of the messenger bags and a Madison bag.

Amy Butler has also designed a line of vintage inspired fabrics.

She has a website where you can view the patterns and material:

Thanks so much for the link.  I love the Chelsea bag.

Actually, I just bought the Chelsea pattern from E-bay!  Grin  I looked at the directions, & I think it will be a snap to put together.  I paid about ten dollars from ebay.
You can also find some Amy Butler patterns for $8.70 (+ shipping) at:  www.createforless.com

Next on my list is the "on the go comfort throw!"
Best wishes!

I just bought the madison pattern and I can't wait to get it!  I'm also heading down to a craft store nearby to pick up some of amy butler's fabrics...could they be any prettier!!!  Thanks for your post...I have been searching for the perfect purse pattern and now my search is over!!

Thank you for posting this link!!! I saw Amy Butler patterns a few weeks ago while randomly surfing and didn't bookmark the site. Of course, I promptly forgot her name and the site where I'd seen her wares. Thanks again.

Let us know how the throw works out! I was interested in maybe making it before i go on a big trip to new york in the spring. I'm going to be on a bus for 24 hours straight, and i want to be as cozy as possible!

and i'll carry you, if you promise to carry me, and we'll carry we. it's a simple thing, you and me.

Another place that carries Amy Butler patterns (for $9.98) is Hancock's of Paducah. They also sell her fabric by the 1/2 yard for 3.99 (a little bit less than the other places I've seen it).

Hi - I'm just wondering how you do the cut-out handles on the Chelsea bag. I don't have the pattern, but I think I understand how the basic body of the thing is put together; it's just the handles that perplex me. I would probably just buy the pattern if I knew where to get it in Toronto (and if it didn't look like a bunch of rectangles to me), but nowhere remotely near me is listed on the AB website.

the createforless.com site charges $7.95 for shipping on the patterns so it kind of negates the $3.30 savings. unless you order all the patterns!

I just ordered the nappy bag pattern. I paid full price plus $6 for shipping, but I wanted to throw some business the way of reprodepot. yay for supporting craftster! Anyway... I'm really excited about this pattern and am making one for a gift and one for myself. And then maybe another for a christmas gift. Can you ever have too many diaper bags?
