Hello British lovelys,
So i have searched this site, and checked out all the results for purse frames, and clicked on all the websites for snap shut clasp thingys, but they are all american! i was wondering if anybody can tell me where i can get some purse/bag frames in the uk! preferably delievered to my door unless anybody knows of a secret magic bag making shop in the swansea area! you know the ones...the vintage style snap shut type.
Thanks all x

if you have a primark near you I would just buy a cheapo bag there and salvage parts for it. i saw a wooden-handled bag with magnet clasps for 5 and was v.tempted as the parts alone would probably cost that.

i started a thread on this board aaages ago about bag handles but it seems to have disappeared  Sad

www.kleins.co.uk is amazing, and the cheapest out of all the sites i've seen.

you could also try www.josyrose.co.uk

hope that helps  Grin

Hi to everyone

I see that you are on the hunt for bag making things (sorry don't have frames right now but will soon) and that some of you kind folks have listed sites in the UK that sell bag making supplies.

I just wanted to tell you that my bag making supplies shop went live yesterday (based in the UK).  I have good selections of all the various bag making bits you might need  (and I made a point of making sure that when I priced everything that my prices were cheaper (and that includes the postage too  Grin) than all of the suppliers listed in this thread.  We post and pack within 24 hours and there is FREE SHIPPING offer available.

http://www.u-handbag.com  We hope you'll find something you like!

If you have any questions please contact us thru the site, thanks, Lisa

rhicooqui, some are google results, some are found through sewing world magazine (love it!) but i've not actually ordered from any of them! ( i did order some printed labels from kliens though) i was suprised at hobbycraft's lack of interesting handles too. i think it's a more 'carftu' shop that a 'sewing' shop.

lady bag, that's a really nice site you've got there! love those rattan handles, think i'll have to treat myself soon! what are those amy butler bag patterns like, are they easy to follow? i love her shapes.

Hiya  Debzy

Thanks a lot for the compliment  Wink

Those Amy Butler Patterns are lovely, I decided to sell them because they are soooo popular in the USA and Amy herself is a really nice person!

The instructions are easy to follow, she writes them herself, so they are kinda friendly sounding, and not formal.  It does help if you have done some sewing before, but she still does still take the time to explain things.  I've made a Madsion Bag (and some flowers for my hair) and they came out really well, (except my cousin nabbed the bag).  Oh yes, I might add that the patterns are printed on nice thickish paper so you can use them again and again.

Hope that helps, if you have any more questions, just ask away!

Cheers,Lisa

I know how you both feel Halle, and Rhicooqui.

In my past life I used to make bags for a living (I still do make them, they haven't found a cure I'm afraid).  I would pop into a sewing shop looking for some nice purple thread and somehow as if by magic I'd leave with some nice purple thread, some feather trim, a little frog patch, a metre of velvet ribbon, and minus Ten Pounds!?!?

Hi All,

Kliens (which are mentioned in the first page of this thread) are the best site i know.  I use them all the time.  Though there is a postage and packaging charge - i ordered stuff at about 16:00 on a friday and it was with me by 09:00 the next day!!  Wow!!  i was soooo impressed!!  I did have to sign for the package (which got me out of my bed - i was having a lie in)!  But you can't ask for better than that!

I have even visited the shop in London, and it is very small and very busy, so ordering online is my preferred method (at 5 P&P is much cheaper than the 25 train fair!)

:-D

Cheers for all the helpful stuff on here guys!

this is the link to their address page on their website http://www.kleins.co.uk/index.asp?function=WEBPAGE&page=2
(otherwise; it is 5 noel street, London, W1F 8GD)

It is just off Oxford Street, quite close to Liberty!  Very handing for doing other shopping too (**grins**).  I just bought an A to Z of London and found it that way (I am from Northern ireland orginally, just been living in England for a few years, so my knowledge of London wasn't great at the time!)  It was easy to find, but busy and packed! It is also a bit overwhelming (lots of stuff on display everywhere), i would recommend going with a proper shopping list, because i didn't and completely forgot what i wanted when i was in there because there was sooooooo much!

:-D

The girls there were very helpful though!
