I found a really nice thrift store, where the people were talkative and interesting (even to me, weird pink hair Roll Eyes)
It is the  Infant of Prague thrift store. I think that everyone who works there is volunteering, and most are
elderly (like above 50;p) all the profits go to helping those less fortunate. The prices are great especially when they
have a bag sale where you get a paper bag and stuff it full, and pay a dollar. I saved almost $200 on this sale...
and the place was swarming! They have furniture out in the back with Veterans watching over it and willing to talk
to anyone who wants to chat;p Basically they are all great people and the place is nice.
And I'm not even a member of their church! Grin

Oh, and just wondering...anyone on here that caught the crocheting class at the library on Base?

For anybody looking for REALLY lovely yarns and thread to crochet or knit, check out
This wonderful funny lady just opened up a yarn shop with the coolest yarn,
And fun classes...for example, I'll be teaching classes for kids in fiber arts, like Macrame, Spool knitting,
finger weaving, and normal weaving. And more as I come up with them;p

Oh...come onnn! I see that 80 people have looked at this but none of you posted anything?

Some one post so that I know that I'm not the only one that can craft in this Military-ridden town!

Well, I have to admit that I looked at your post because my best friend used to live in Jacksonville.  That was 12-14 years ago, though.  We used to go to the Thieves Market for fun stuff.

I think it's great that you'll be teaching fiber arts to kids.  You'll be their hero!

I looked at your post because I'm from Jones County, which is very close to Jacksonville.  Unfortunately, now that I don't live there anymore, I keep "meeting" crafters online who now live in the area.

Have fun with the kids and the fiber classes!

Hey! I live in Jacksonville, and quite new to the area, and the crafting scene. I hope to get to know the area for the two years we're stationed here. If you have any other good places to hit up let me know!
