Details of swap:
This was inspired by the first (and rather successful) Subculture Swap – that gallery can be found here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=28996.0.  The idea is to make and receive crafts/goods based on a particular “subculture” or style.  Some examples (but not all!) are: rockabilly, surf, punk, emo, hippie, glam, goth, boho, beatnik, mod, psychobilly, anglophile, burlesque, flapper, etc.  Here’s a helpful list of some subs - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_subcultures

You will specify which subculture theme you identify with or would like to receive.  Provide as many details as you wish for your partner.

Please be sure to send the equivalent of 1 main item and 2 additional items (this can vary – you may choose to make several smaller items or put all your effort into one really kick-ass piece).  Use your best judgment and have fun!  The theme can be carried out in any way you see fit, be it clothing, accessories, mix cds, artwork, paper crafts.

What subculture(s) are you interested in? "hippie-christian-geek-writer/artist" haha.. yeah, hippie.

Would you prefer crafting for a specific sub? other hippies would be nice, but i'm totally open to crafting for other subcultures, too... it might be fun to see what I can make.

Is there a sub you definitely would not want to craft for? I would be slightly put out by some very hardcore sexual things, but generally, no.

OPTIONAL QUESTIONS (may be helpful for your partner)

Briefly describe what your subculture means to you:
A hippie is a person who takes care of people, and of the earth.  Who eats well, lives well, and tries to be as peaceful and "negative impact-free" as possible.

Who are the icons of your subculture in your opinion?
Anyone who attended Woodstock  ...  influential people, though, were Gandhi, Jean Vanier, the Beatles, Jack Kerouac (I know, a beat writer, but come ON!), Ken Kesey, Bob Marley, Neil Young...

What crafts do you usually do? I knit, crochet, sew, bead, do macrame/hemp stuff.

Is there anything you’d specifically like to receive or need?  I would love a dress, but that's a pretty tall order.  I love beads and small accessory things, dangley feathery things, earrings,  hair accessories... ooh!  like those "roach clip" hair barettes with leather cord and feathers on them!  Those are cool!  I have long, thin hair that doesn't like to stay put.

Favorite colors: Autumn colours, and red.

Anything you dislike: People who don't care about the world around them!     I don't like "rhinestone" things...  or anything in powder pink unless it's an ironic statement.

Do you collect anything:  Books.  Poetry books from the beat generation or books by T.S. Eliot.

Shirt size: T-shirts?  uh... in Hanes styles, I'm like a medium, but I have really big boobs, so it depends.  How about I say my chest measurement is 42-46 in.

Skirt/pants size: size 10-11

Wrist: medium size wrist... I can fit bangles from the thrift store with difficulty.

Neck: larger than average?

Ring: BIG... 7 1/4!

Ears pierced? yes

Any allergies?  I can't ingest Citrus. For earrings, I can't have really cheap metals... surgical steel or precious metal is okay.

Any other comments: I'm excited to swap!! Yay!

Thanks gals!  It's so nice to know that people can still be altruistic!

Just so you're not freaked out when it arrives in the post, there's a little something on it's way from England for you as well...no idea when it'll actually arrive though as post over to your side of the world is taking ages at the moment!
