Yay!! I am in.  I have always wanted to do a KAL.  And I just started this.

I CO 176 sts with a worsted weight yarn and #9 needles.  I am using some yarn that I bought at a farmers market (a pale heathery red) but it looks suspiciously like Bartlett Yarns from Maine.

BTW I seem to be CO much less than others so I hope this turns out right.  I guess I do have narrow shoulders....

I am on my third row of the K2P2 section.

This is on my list of things to knit... As soon as I get a couple other projects finished. I think I'm gonna go with the trend and use Caron Simply Soft: cheap and fabulous.

hst: I worked out how many I'd have to cast on and it's only 170. I have really narrow shoulders too.

I started one of these last week. I am using Simply Soft in Violet and size 8 needles. I have 6/in in my gauge and somehow ended up with ~260 to cast on. Like everythng I knit, I am worried it will be too big/small but it is a great knit anyway. I am 5" into the body section of the shrug. I would love to have this done for Thanksgiving!

OK I won't worry too much then.  Thanks.

I am only on row 3 now I think, but I am going to devote some weekend time for this.  I think I will aim for Thanksgiving as well.
Good luck everyone!

I cast on for mine last night. I'm only a few rows in. I ended up using just plain crappy Red Heart in white. But I vaguely remember someone saying they used it and washed it and then it was nice and soft... If this one fits ok I'll probably end up making another one in nicer yarn. Oh and I didn't thinka bout the fact that 170 stitches makes me end on K2... So my seam will be funny.  Sad

Lol! I totally agree Bronxie, I have struggled with that same yarn in the past and ended up giving it away... some poor sould is probably trying to knit with it as we speak!

I have to restart my CS because I don't have enough yarn, and I was only in the ribbing anyhow, so no big deal. But this time I am going to try to knit it up w/ chunky or bulky yarn, and bigger needles, which will be faster. i am such a slow knittah that i am taking FOREVER to make one with worsted and 6mm circs  Angry !

I am going to post pics when I get my new yarn!  Cheesy

I am making one with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Grass. It is super chunky. I did a 1x1 ribbing and the body in stockinette. It is so un drapey that I did some short and long rows to shape it a little bit. I should be finishing it tonight so hopefully can post some pictures tomorrow.
