I just got a new little dog named Tate--a rescue who traveled from Louisiana to live with me in Boston.  He's adorable and sweet, but having a wee bit of trouble getting used to the New England winter.

He needed a good snuggly (hand-knit) sweater, but none of my other dog sweaters fit him--he's got that hot-dog shape.  So I had to get busy right away knitting him something.  I used some yarn I had and ended up with this bi-color sweater that makes him look like a little college athlete:

The maroon part is in a baby cable that stretches like ribbing.  The orange part is in horizontal stripes of garter stitch with a little maroon accent (woven in afterwards).  The neck is a curled stockinette stitch that I put on most of my doggie sweaters.

It fits him perfectly!  I had to bring the underside way up to provide him with plenty of weewee clearance--he was peeing all over all the other sweaters.  Shocked  So here it is on its own:

And I'm already at work on another sweater for him, this one in avocado green...

That is a great sweater!  We have the same problems trying to fit my mini-dachshund into clothes, and he needs them when it's cold out.  I like how high-cut that is in the back, and I love how you avoided the "how to fit short legs into sleeves" conundrum Smiley.  I really like it--can't wait to see the green one!

That is sooo cute. I have a Dash. mix too, and now I wish I could knit.
