Here is cleaves, without the puff, no cowl.  I like it very much!  I made the original cleaves, but the sleeves were very yo-ho- ho, and got in the way of everything.

I too like it much more than the original. I like it's simplicity. Very pretty.

The modifications are easy- but I used a different yarn and had a totally different gauge than the original, so these are the mods for the original pattern.

This is the recipe:

Cast on the original number of stitches for the arm.  You can either work them flat or on dpns.  Do as much 2x2 rib as you please.

Make only one increase row at the end of the ribbing. Continue until sleeve is as long as the pattern calls for.

Put the sleeve on a holder and make the other sleeve the same way.

When it's time to join it all up, do as the pattern directs, casting on the required number of stitches in between sleeves.

Then, make 7 inches of stockinette stitch.

Decrease 8 stitches next row.

Knit one row even

Decrease 6 stitches even next row

knit one row even

and continue like this until the garment will cling to your shoulders without slipping off. You may have to try it on (slip onto scrap yarn to do so) until it fits you well.

Cast off after you are pleased with fit.

And that's that!

I wear it all the time now that is is cool.  I'm going to make a black one and a red one next.

I'm going to try to morph one of them into a turtleneck cleaves ( just continue even decreases until it comes up my neck and my head will still fit through it... theoretically)
