Modified to add - I was duped! I should know better .... I just received an email this morning, I took it to be true (DUH!!!), I googled marzipan babies until I found the artist's site and .......... guess what? ... no where on the artist's site does it suggest that these babies are made from marzipan.

Hmmm I wonder how the marzipan thing got started. There are certainly enough links out there that are propagating the myth.

I am not quite sure under what forum heading to post this message but, I just had to share!

I got an email from a friend today with pics showing some miniature lifelike babies made from marzipan. I was so impressed that I just had to find out who did them.

This artist is unbelievably talented! Check out her website -

Wow ... time to pick my jaw up off the floor! I must add her to my links page!

I've seen these kind of babies on ebay, and a woman on a parenting board I visit makes them.  She may be calling them marzipan babies cause they kind of look like marzipan.  but they (what I've seen anyway) are just  polymer clay.  And some of them are incredible!!  However, they kind of freak me out.  And I'm not sure of the purpose.  Not to offend anyone, but again, they're kind a freaky.

haha ... yes, I can see what you mean. People that collect dolls are probably the most likely to buy them. I can't get over how small they are but how lifelike they look. Wow.

I would think that buyers would probably put them on display someplace - perhaps in a glass case or under a glass dome.  Huh
