My teenage daughter asked for a shrug to wear over some of her tops at school, since classrooms are frigid year round. She picked out the yarn and showed me some styles she liked and I made this:

Then she asked for another, this time with short sleeves, so I made this one:

The first one is my own pattern. It's very plain, since she did not want any lace or trim or anything--pure functionality.  It has a couple of rows of garter stitch around the edges to keep it from rolling. I'm tempted to make another, maybe with some eyelet or something. How many shrugs does a girl need?

The short sleeve one you may recognize as Glampyre's Minisweater, minus the poofy sleeves and pointy trim. Again, she wanted it very plain.

These shrugs are modeled, by the way, by Zeus, since my daughter did not want her picture taken. What do you think?

I wish my mom could knit things like this..She did crochet (sp?) me a blanket once though..Although a shrug would be much better, haha..

Thank you all for your comments!  Grin

No action shots of the shrug, but I used the leftover yarn from the shrugs to make a matching hat.
