Imagine something like French Toast, but ten thousand times tastier and you have this wonderful gooey french toast casserole. I will never make regular french toast again, my tastebuds are SINGING.

heres the deal:

1 loaf french bread cut into pieces on the diagonal. *you can cut it into cubes if you want*
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half and half
1tsp vanilla 1 tsp cinnamon

mix those ingredients thoroughly and our over the bread which has been placed in a 13x9" buttered baking dish. Allow this to sit refrigerated overnight (longer is fine)

3Tablesp. Light corn syrup
1 1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup melted butter

mix these ing. and pour over top of soaked casserole.

Bake 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes.
MMMMMMMMMMMm heaven!

I've had this before, it is SO good. Makes your teeth rot out of your head, though!!

As for regular french toast, I like to butter the bread before I batter it. Much more fattening, but it makes is taste soooo soooo good. I also make sure to add a little vanilla. A little vanilla would probably taste good in the french toasty casserole!!  YUM!

I made this recipe over the weekend. It reminded me of southern bread pudding from my childhood, which is not my favorite thing, but a coworker made it for a breakfast pitch-in this week and it was a huge hit at the office. She sprinkled the top with chopped pecans and dollops of cream cheese before baking. People couldn't stop talking about it.

My dad makes this for Christmas morning breakfast (infact I finished off the leftovers the other day!), except he doesn't put the topping on it; just some butter to keep it from getting dry.  Its still pretty awesome, especially when you pour maple syrup on top!

He also tops it with blackberries and roasted pecans, and a little nutmeg, if anyone wants to try that alternative.

oh BOY THAT SOUNDS YUMMY!!  (unfortunately for this Chef, the cholesterol and Sugar could kill me  Cry  I am diabetic and have the dreaded High Cholesterol, however I could use Egg Beaters or other egg substitute to lower the cholesterol)

My mom makes a DELICIOUS French Toast for my kids and once a year on my birthday she will let me have some (last week I turned 40)

Use Cinnamon Raisin Bread with swirled Cinnamon in it,  Spread NUTLLA(CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT SPREAD FOUND WITH THE PEANUT BUTTER   AT YOUR GROCERY STORE) on one side (or 2 if you prefer) and add a sliced banana on top of that then put the other piece of bread on top and dip in egg that has had milk and vanilla and a pinch of Nutmeg mixed into it.  Grill it in a nice no stick pan and ENJOY!!  but PLEASE DO NOT PUT MAPLE SYRUP ON THIS - IT WILL NEVER TAST RIGHT!
