Wow, thanks! Glad you like them.  I definitely didn't mean to imply that anyone who liked the originals had bad taste, sorry  Embarrassed but I just didn't have anything I could wear them with.  If any of you live in the MD/PA/VA/WV areas and want some, I got them at Gabriel Brothers Smiley

As for how I did it, it was really easy!  I just cut across the top of the shoe right below the knot-thing in the center and took out the horizontal straps so all that was left was the toe part and the vertical strap things.  I just left the cut edge because you can barely tell its different from the stitched edges on the sides.  then I covered the sole and heel in tape (cause I liked the gold heel) and spray painted the top with some outdoor spray paint.  Then I just put some fake pearls on elastic and put them through the loops on the sides.  And that's it!  So far, the paint hasn't chipped or gotten wrinkly or anything...  The only thing with them is that the elastic is stretchy (guess I should have expected that lol) so they tend to fit pretty loosely around the ankles.  Having two strands helps that though.  I've seen similar shoes in stores with thick wire instead of the elastic which might be a better choice.

I think the originals were pretty hot. but the new ones are more wearable and just as hot.

and he said unto the people of the hills and valleys " and all ye who eat brunch shall be damned to hell" and unto the people of the plains and seas "ditto"
