This was a project I did for the county fair in August (won a blue ribbon Smiley )
It was just a plain brown paper mache box. I painted it black with acrylic paint. The geisha on the cover was an image from an antique scroll I have in my room. I decided on painting it black and white for a more dramatic look.

The writing around the sides is a Chinese poem by Li Bai's called,'Quiet Night Thoughts'
I then added some Asian-inspired ribbon around the lid to finish it off.

Hope you like it Cheesy

That is gorgeous and totally deserving of a blue ribbon!  Did you freehand or use some sort of stencil to make the image?

It is beautiful! (I love geisha culture and imagery - hence my website: www.immortalgeisha.com ;P)

You did a fantastic job for freehand! My hands start shaking really bad when I do fine work...it is okay for needlepoint and sewing stuff - but for painting - forget it!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your kind comments.
I really would like to make another box, but with a samuri or bamboo on it to match this one. I don't have another box though! And its impossible for me to go to Michaels/JoAnns to buy one thing...

Omg I LOVE it! It's totally deserving of the blue ribbon you got. You should definitely make more!
