Can't believe I only just NOW stumbled across this! My grandma taught me to tat, and was thrilled because no one else in 2 generations had been able to get the hang of it.  My only problem is that I can't read patterns for it -- I can make up all kinds of stuff, but written patterns are too much like algebra...

If only that were true.  I'm an expert at tatting but can't pass the algebra part of the placement test to save my life!  I would be happy to help.
