orignially posted elsewhere... (so I'm a newbie! Tongue)

anywhoo, so i finished a bag today! and i'm actually going to keep it. everyone always thinks that because i sew for a living, that everything i have is something i made, but actually, i never keep anything for myself, so this is mine! :]

i used felt for the tree and leaves appliques and lined it with a super cute green and earthy cotton. i think it turned out quite yummy. and there's a super cute button on the back.

http://seaofstars.com/images/newtreebag5.jpg this is the closest to the truest color... its actually a deep reddish/burgundy.

i just used the plain ol regular snaps, but they actually hold pretty well. I got the whole snap set for about $3. they can be a bit tricky to figure out, but once you've got it, you've got it good.  Smiley

thanks for the compliments. i'm still deciding what to make next....

I love the design for the tree, and that wallet is beautiful. I'd pay money for those, they're great.

for felt appliques, i cut them out, then glue (with a glue stick) them where I want them on the fabric. Then, I straight stitch them on with a short tight stitch. I do this when I have interfacing on the back of the fabric, and my machine is okay with this, some are not. I do not use wunder-under with felt.

if you're doing fabric appliques and need some help, let me know, i'm pretty good with those too.

I do sell purses like this and take custom orders  Wink Wink

Wonderfully cute. That's a lot of work for those appliques, and a wallet, too !! I am glad you are keeping this one for you.

I love your bag and especially the matching wallet. Which wallet tutorial did you follow?

Your website is also nice. Could you tell me who designed it or did you do it yourself. I am looking for a website designer.

Thanks.

and I didn't follow any tutorials for the wallet, its just a little design i came up with that was going to work for my needs.

appliques are a lot of work, but i totally enjoi doing them. its so amazing the things that can be created! thanks for all the kynd words!
