Finished my mom's day stuff, here's the haul:

knitting bag, circular needle holder, and knitting notions pouch.  I put lots of nifty features inside the bag, like needle holders, cell phone pocket, and snaping loops for guiding yarn, holding keys, whatever.

OK, wow I have finally decided to make my mom a Jordy bag to put her "tanning/spa" stuff in (although I'm utterly opposed to tanning beds!) then I buy some cute dollar store flip flops to decorate a hot/cold bag. I might make her some Oatmeal Tea bags for the evil tanning burn... Can you tell I'm a pale redhead?

sunday is mother's day, and coincidentally, lily's first birthday  Cheesy
for the "crafty portion" of my mother and mother-in-law's gifts, i got a couple of those plaster hand print kits to make molds of lily's hands.
that way the grandmas will have a momento of their *first mother's day as grandmas AND of lily's first birthday  Wink

*technically, last year was their first mother's day as grandmas as it was 2 days after lily was born - but i was a bit busy to be doing crafts  Grin

After making a frantic run around my area to find a place that carried colored duct tape...I'm making my mom a bouquet of duct tape flowers.  They're really silly, but hey, that's the kind of stuff you get when your kid's a geek. ;p

There are some  photos of them in http://web.mit.edu/luminea/Public/duct-tape-flowers... I apologize for the not-so-great quality of the pics, but I've got finals I should be studying for right now, hehe.

my mom recently had brain surgery, so she's wearing lots of hats. i really wanted to get her one of these gems, http://www.loiusegreen.com but until i have the cash for that, i decided to buy her two hats and add ribbon and "trimmings" to them to give them character.

i found two hats to my liking at a local shop AND they were on-sale. then i went to the premiere art supply shop in my area and bought her the best trimmings i could find: ribbon, fabric flowers and a large antique looking glass button. i will spend the night slowly stitching the trimmings in place and tomorrow, i will hunt down the proper hat box to send them in.

she will love them and the fact that i made them especially for her. mom's are great and our mom's deserves the very best.
