I just got a new sewing machine, it is an old singer (moel number 478) and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to thread the thing! every different way i have tried breaks the thread with the tension. i have a  user manuel, but it is 5 hrs away, and my little bro needs his football jersey hemmed in the next few days.

i haven't been able to find anything online. maybe you could direct me? or you have a  photo you could scan for me?? any help at all would be so hugely appreciated!!!!!!!

(i would sew it by hand, but the jersey get's so much use that my crappy hand stiches never hold)

and when i see you i really see you upside down
but my brain knows better and turns you round

I didn't know if this would be close enough to your machine to help.  If not, check out some of the Singer models.

Don't call it trash...I can make something with it!!!

Where did you get it?  If from private party. It might need to be cleaned and the tension looked at. If from a used sewing machine store.  I dont know what to say.
