my first post.....there are so many interesting, talented people here....

my best friends' daughter is getting married in december....the theme of the wedding is "flying pigs"

her fiancee asked her to marry him many, many times...her answer for years was..."when pigs fly"....

so now that she finally said YES....that's the theme....lol

i'm creating flying bride & groom piggies....but would like to hear what y'all would come up with...

That has got to be one of the coolest things i've heard!  You can serve pork and chicken -- "pigs" with "wings"  Smiley

Make charms of flying pigs with shrinky dink paper and a computer (they make special paper that can go thru an inkjet printer)

Use sculpey to make a winged pig couple cake topper

Would LOVE to see pic after the fun event!

HOLY COW - Pink Floyd "Pigs On The Wing" would be awesome!  What a great love song - nice and mellow...oh how I love Pink Floyd  Cheesy  You could make little paper mache pigs (piggy banks) for the favors too!  http://www.familyeducation.com/article/0,1120,2-14675,00.html You could change it up however you liked, such as:  http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/14/F0/GardenJunk/3/97.jpg&imgrefurl=http://groups.msn.com/GardenJunk/ourgardenart.msnw&h=64&w=96&sz=2&tbnid=p5ArN77dV3kJ:&tbnh=50&tbnw=76&hl=en&start=23&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpaper%2Bmache%2Bpig%26start%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26hs%3Dq04%26lr%3D%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN OH MAN!  I could have so much fun with this one!!!

Pigs on the Wing (Part One)

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Pigs on the Wing (Part Two)

You know that I care what happens to you,
And I know that you care for me.
So I don't feel alone,
Or the weight of the stone,
Now that I've found somewhere safe
To bury my bone.
And any fool knows a dog needs a home,
A shelter from pigs on the wing.

You could buy the tiny/mini ceramic piggy banks from Michaels and paint wings on them like in this photo ~

I love flying pigs!

Streamers of flying pigs would be awesome- and appropriate- I love it when they're pictured in-flight!

thanks for all the input....

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of the Pink Floyd song.....my husband is a great guitar player & singer AND he LOVES Floyd....i'm gonna ask him to play it for me tonight....

the groom is in charge of the cake (cause he wants something traditional...silly man....lol) but i think the bride is going to order a groom's cake....i'll see if she'd like me to make a fimo topper...i've only dabbled in that stuff....i have a started kit my friend gave me....i'll have to check it out....any helpful hints?

love the little crocheted piggy....i've never followed a crocheting pattern....put i think i may try to make them for the bridal shower....

i've got the basic bride & groom pigs sewn (i followed a pattern i found here on craftster....did i tell you i'm a long-time lurker? lol)....i just have to wait until the bride chooses her flowers, headpiece, etc....so i can replicate their look.....

i also thought maybe we could expand on the idea....with

"when hell freezes over" glue flames onto acrylic ice cubes
but that's the only other expression i can come up with.....do you have any others?

thanks so much for all of your input & your warm reception....

what about a snowball's chance in hell?

I think it'd be really cute to make wings for the bride/groom/pig snouts for the guest?

I dunno.

The earth, stained with the blood of a thousand dying soldiers, weeps as she welcomes them home.

Another food idea -- bacon-wrapped chicken wings  Wink

Maybe make a drink too?  A pink drink with creme?  "Pig on a cloud?"

Flying pig cookie cutter!  A gift?

If you were to make them yourself, the pig and bat look better here:  (use the pig body and bat wings)

the bridal shower may be a sleep over (the bride as quite a few young nieces & i live out of state...lol)....so having the girls make cookies would keep them busy while we suck down some of those pink drinks.....thanks

p.s. i just noticed the "this rocks"...pretty cool for my first post (if i don't say so myself....lol)
