I've wanted to knit something without yarn for a while. I figured this challenge would get my ass in gear. I can't say this has never been done before, it's been done millions of times, and I can't say it's particularly unique, cuz a scarf is a scarf is a scarf. But for me it was an experiment, and I wanted to have something useful and wearable left over after I was done playing, (I hate to waste good product).

So out come my father's pants, from the basement,... get your minds out of the gutter. I shreaded them, not too well the first time, second try's the charm. Tied all the ends together. They are some sort of cotton blend, I'm assuming. The knitting was quick, but I had to redo it twice, it came out too short the first time. Now came the fun part...I know that I didnt technically knit out of the pearl beads, but I didn't see anything saying we couldn't embelish. So I sewed on all the beads by hand, one by one, it took a few hours of my life. And then came the fringe. I don't know if it shows up well in the photos, but the fringe is an assortment of things I found arround my house. There is ribbon, metal key rings, pieces of fabric from pants and a shirt, cord from some sweats, a zipper, and two old, old leather horse ties. My idea was to make it look like a hobo scarf, unkempt, a little old and matted looking, but with the contrast of the white pearls dotting it. No yarn was harmed in the making of this scarf.

Hope you like...(sorry for so many pics, I got overexcited with my camera)

Looks like something that would sell for megabucks. I love the pearls in contrast to the zippers and leather, etc.
