I recently bought a book that has a ton of suggestions for different projects to dress up a room with. One of the projects is called the Hammock Quilt. It's held together with iron on mending tape.

However, I'm afraid that something that gets so much use as a blanket would fall apart. What I want to know is, how would I be able to attach the crosses on to the blanket without using iron on mending tape? Oh, and I really don't feel like sewing them on.
