I just found this site (hello!), and this pattern. I am a beginner knitter -- all I've made are scarves --and this is the perfect project to take the next step.

I added some stitches for extra width, as I have heavy arms, and am going to make it longer (I want to wear it to work, and they require everything have sleeves). I am using a periwinkle blue sport yarn. So far, so good! I will try to post pics when it's done.

I know it's been a while since anyone posted in this topic, but this is such a great project, I had to post. Maybe some other newcomer will now see it while browsing the boards! Thanks for sharing!
