'Ello

I had a go at making me some crochet earrings, here's what I came up with:

http://www.dazed.org/temp/earring1.jpg

these are my sisters favourites...I crocheted around an earring hoop then added a couple of beads

http://www.dazed.org/temp/earring2.jpg

These are my fav's (I prefer simpler things!) they're made with gold thread (its more twine-y than thread-ish actually so its stiffish) and a cream pearl added on the bottom

Oh I love those. And first pair is so inventive, I have seen many crochet earrings but all of them where weary soft you have resolved that problem

I know this thread has been dead for awhile, but I recently posted the following relevant topic elsewhere:

Upon browsing for jewelery/accessory ideas, I came across the following beauties. To view them in more detail, go to the following link and use the groovy zoom tool http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=9420&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=337&iMainCat=332...Turns out they're crochetted! Now, I don't know how to crochet...yet...but upon zooming in, it seems like they could be adapted to knitting.  As a new knitter, I doubt I could work this out, but I would be game for trying a pattern that someone else worked out...any takers? I would SO LOVE to make these...$68.00..puhshaw...

Those are so cool!  It makes me want to run out and buy a small crochet hook just to try.  It's crazy how far you can zoom in on that image - you can see the exact stitches!

Wow nice work! It's never occured to me to try to crochet earrings. Daydreaming is definitely well worth it.

Nice work! Would you mind sharing the pattern or basic instructions for how you made these? I am just dying to try out something that approximates those loooovely Anthropologie beauts.

Thanks!

Ladybugger: I had a go at making a variation of those earrings, however I only had large hoops - so I had to stop before the end otherwise I'd look like i'm wearing a tablecloth on my ear. They'd work much better on a small hoop.

Here's a scan: (I've only made one earring, and I haven't put a hook on yet)

Here is another one i've been working on, i haven't even weaved the edges back in yet..oopsy

As for patterns, I don't really keep track of what I'm doing, and I made those first ones ages ago..hmm..I'll se eif I can remember these new ones if anyone wants?

cute earings, so what size hook did you use, tiny i guess lol and what size thread.
do you just thread seed beads on before you start. i will try some soon, just need thinner thread.

Triyal, thanks for sharing! It definitely looks doable. Are those earring hoops? or did you just work it on some kind of crochet hoop for demostration purposes?

I attempted to make a couple like the ones at Anthropologie.  I like the brown one the most (ran out of thread though Sad )

These are really nice.  I honestly hadn't thought about crocheting earrings, I've only been crocheting for 2 months.  My favorite is from the first page, the ones you made with the gold thread.  Really beautiful.
