I have no idea how to build a website and to make things even worse, I don't have the money to pay someone to design it. I think I bit off more than I could chew. I started it and figured I could just fumble my way through, but I'm totally lost.

I'm registered with Dreamhost. Everytime I go to my switchboard, I feel like I'm reading a different language.
Here is my site (if you could call it that)...

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Visit this website: http://www.w3schools.com/

They have free tutorials on pretty much everything you might need to know about building a website.  Also see Lissa Explains It All, it's a kids site but it's very helpful: http://www.lissaexplains.com/

Good luck!

Ohhh, my gosh.
I have just oodles of links for you!

www.htmlgoodies.com - From basic to fairly advanced stuff. I love it and use it all of the time.
http://users.rcn.com/giant.interport//COLOR/ColorSpecifier.html - all of the color codes possible for text, background, etc.
www.webmonkey.com - I don't use this one too much but it's pretty decent.
http://www.bluerobot.com/web/layouts/ - A good site that'll give you the coding for a layout. Nice, professional-looking, and free! Just copy/paste!

Also, if you're still having problems, feel free to PM me, either through here, or Yahoo! Messenger (SerenityInSleep) or AIM (SleepInSerenity) I've done Tons o' websites & would be happy to help.  Grin
