Hi I live and work in Ames. Its unfortunate that we don't have any independant cross stitch stores here but we do have a knitting store in campus town called the Rose Tree Fiber shop, a Hobby Lobby and a Michaels.
I could've sworn you were a fish, but maybe that was your brother.

we have a michaels? ...I know we ahve a joanns (formerly so-fro or something) but a Michaels? hmm...

I once knew a man that fell into an upholstery machine. No worries though, he's fully recovered now.

I live in Ankeny which is close to you ladies and there are tons of stores here to buy crosstitch projects. maybe you will have to come visit me. lol

I think Hobby Lobby on Lincoln Way used to be a Michael's years ago, but I'm not 100% sure.

Also, depending on the type of art supplies you are looking for, you might want to check out the University Book Store, which is located on the ISU campus.
