I'm still not up to snuff, but getting better. Some of these pieces were started a while ago with only the finishing embellishments completed recently.
They're all a combination of needle and wet felting.

The acorn cap in this piece is one I found when digging through the ashes of my studio looking for anything that survived.

Thank you!

"Up to snuff" = my health, still recovering from surgery and dealing with a pinched nerve! Getting better at least! Wink

These are really striking; nice work! I like them all, but keep coming back to stare at the one with the sequins and all the different patterns. Beautiful!

Harlan, these are absolutely stunning.  I love the earthy and organic feel of each one.  The acorn cap must have been cathartic to make.  An acorn is a seed.  Maybe this marks the seed of a new beginning for you?

Best wishes for your recovery.  Hope you are up to snuff soon. <3

Thank you!!!

I have several boxes full of bits and pieces that I pulled out of the ashes and intend to use in pieces (more likely polymer or mixed media). Some of what I collected will probably work for that idea, some will probably be discarded. Some of the things that survived surprised me: two of the 3 ostrich eggs I had, but none of the emu egg shells, the erasing guard from when I was in college back in the middle ages, portions of some needlepoint that my mom did. There were some things I had hoped would survive because they were metal but I didn't find them. I dug through quite a lot, but wasn't even able to get into some of the piles. Hopefully I can make something worthwhile from some of the pieces.

Health is improving! I still get some twinges from the surgery incisions. I recovered faster than they thought I would at extended care. They were sure that they were going to have me for at least a week longer. As soon as standing didn't mean having pain levels go from a 2 to an 8, and my body started flushing out all the fluids they had pumped into me (I was like an over inflated beach ball full of cement), I was on my feet and walking. One day they were teaching me how to use a disability device to put on my socks, next day I was just putting on my socks without it.

I'm glad to be back home and able to work again!!
