Fiber Friday

I know there haven't been Fiber Friday posts for quite a while, but, it's Friday and I have a few finished skeins.

My boys bought me some roving for my birthday last month and I've been happily spending a lot of time with my wheel.

I got a grab bag of random bits of dyed Merino and some of it ended up in this fractal-spun rainbow. (105g, about 158yds of worsted-aran weight)





The boys wanted new Winter hats - Mario power-up mushroom earflap hats in blue and red, to be specific. I spun up some Merino in red, blue, and white. Some of the white I then dyed with coffee (not pictured). It's about 450 yards in total, bulky and so squishy!

Oh how beautiful!  I just learned how to spin with a drop spindle and I have a long ways to go before my yarn looks anything as beautiful as yours!

Thank you! You'll get there! Consistency comes with practice (the fractal skein is the most consistent I have managed). I still have a lot to learn, too. I just learned how to spin on a wheel and ply a few months ago.

I've been busy weaving these last few weeks.  I really need to get back on the wheel.  A new spinner and her mother dropped by tonight. She's trying to decide on a wheel so I let her try my 3 out.  Know anyone looking for an Ashford Elizabeth 30" Anniversary double treadle???

Oh no! I have that problem with spindle spinning, too, and it bugs my shoulder. I haven't noticed it with the wheel, though. I wonder if those compression gloves would help that.

Thank you! That's awesome that you're 'enabling' new crafters!    I don't know any spinners IRL, and I currently don't have room for a big, gorgeous wheel like that (however much I would love to have one).
